Cheryl M. Zimmerman

Ms. Zimmerman is currently President and Chief Executive Officer of FarSounder, Inc. a marine electronics company, which develops and manufactures an advanced 3D sonar technology for navigation, obstacle avoidance and security applications. Ms. Zimmerman was responsible for leading the team to commercialize the technology and market the product line globally.

Ms. Zimmerman brings more than 25 years of experience as a successful business entrepreneur, having started and grown several technical and commercial businesses. She is President of the Marine and Oceanographic Technology Network, a member of the South Eastern New England Defense-Industry Alliance and was named as a Woman to Watch in 2004 by Women’s Business Boston. Ms. Zimmerman was a Springboard Enterprise Venture Forum Finalist.

Ms. Zimmerman received her undergraduate degree in Engineering Science from the University of Hartford, Magna Cum Laude and holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University. Previously she was a Principle and Vice President of Allied Consulting Engineering Services, an MEP design firm. Her unique combination of engineering and business acumen presents a powerful asset, as the company commercializes its advanced 3D sonar technology directed towards new applications in the commercial, defense and security marketplace.
