Donald Schlater
Senior Technical Advisor – BP Castrol Offshore
Don has Over 30 years in the offshore drilling and production business.
He joined Exxon Production Research in 1974 in the Floating Drilling section where he conducted 2 industry sponsored equipment testing programs and taught in both Well Control and Floating Drilling schools.
He then moved to (National Oil Well) Shaffer as Product manager for Drilling controls and Motion compensation systems.
He was General Manager at Canning (Marston Bentley) who sold hydraulic control fluids for both Production and drilling control systems.
He then became Director of Subsea control system Projects at AkerKvaerner.
He is currently a Senior Technical Advisor for BP Castrol Offshore in Houston specializing in the area of offshore production control fluids.
He has a Bachelors and Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tulane University and was a US Air Force Project Manager in the area of Nuclear affects weapons research.
